We blame everyone, and no one. Except, mostly, we blame ourselves for getting sucked into this perfect swarm. It was a multi layer, non discriminatory cluster upchuck a live, one hour TV show to announce LeBron James would take his talents out of Cleveland and to Miami for the upcoming NBA season. In one smelled swoop, "The Decision" solidified the jack wagon status of Jim Gray (who reportedly made $500,000 for the ringmaster appearance), planted seeds of doubt in anything ESPN subsequently reported, laid the groundwork for some of the most obscenely overblown coverage in league history, inspired a self serving Nike commercial and, in the words of ESPN ombudsman Don Ohlmeyer, became "a metaphor for what ails the media today." Granted, the July 8 LeBron a thon attracted some 13 million viewers. But it also had an equal number of criticisms. How could ESPN's own NBA "insiders" not find out early information about what was happening? Because ESPN's own studio and business side of the production wanted to protect the integrity of the announcement. James eventually admitted some regret over how "The Decision" went down. "I don't know what I would (have done)," he said, "but I definitely would have changed it." In the aftermath, James has become a finalist for Time magazine's annual person of the year. The text accompanying his nomination included "(his reputation) took a huge hit this summer because of The Decision,' the unfortunate ESPN spectacle. . But we watched it." Just as we'll watch TNT's coverage of the Heat's game at Cleveland next Thursday. The crime: In late July, the website killed a story by Markazi chronicling some behind the scenes and potentially off the record activities that happened at a LeBron James party in Las Vegas. The crime: Fresh off admitting he came up with the idea for James going on live TV to announce his NBA plans, Gray put himself into another sticky situation two months later. As a reporter for Golf Channel, he went on air saying Ryder Cup captain Corey Pavin was set to add Tiger Woods to the team. Pavin then went to a news conference and said Gray's report was inaccurate. An incensed Gray went up to Pavin afterward, pointed his finger at Pavin's chest, called him a "liar" and threatened "you're going down" for not corroborating the report. The response from his critics was nearly giddy. Here was the commentator who has always been quick to admonish athletes accused of domestic violence and demand punishment to the fullest extent of the law now getting payback. More and more GPS technology is making our lives easier. With the US's commitment to the GPS Modernization plan underway adding new satellites and signals completing todays satellite constellation and the adding of 12 satellites (GPS Block llF for Safety of Life Transportation) with a longer life span of 12 years and atomic clocks with accuracy of 8 billionths of a second per day (two of which are already operational as of January2012) and GPS Block lll satellites with a 15 year life span currently under development by Lockheed Martin providing a more powerful signal for the future Distress Alerting Satellite System (DASS) we will all benefit from the new products and services to come. (National Coordination Office for Space Based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing and the Civil GPS Service Interface Committee) Just the other day Seiko came out with the first GPS solar watch (the Seiko Astron). In 1969 Seiko had another first, the quartz watch. The Astron knows which one of our planets 39 times zones it is in and sets the time accordingly. It is a wonderful age we live in. I have been wearing solar wrist watches that use atomic time keeping (receive a calibration signal) for many years now . As some of these watches became a little older the manual time zone function would not always work the way it was suppose to. As a result I would travel around the country with my watch set to my home time so I think this watch will be great for frequent travelers. Nike has come out with A GPS Sport watch for runners and outdoor enthusiasts making it easy to track your runtime and distance, pace, heart rate and calories burned. Epson has the worlds lightest GPS sports watch weighing in at 50 grams. There are new truckers GPS systems coming out all the time some with electronic onboard recorders (EOBR), allowing fleet owners to communicate, track and monitor their equipment position and operation. Some systems boasting no more paper logs and fewer violations. The alleged controversy here is the claim that these systems are being used to harass drivers, waking them up from a sleep to use up remaining hours of service available. We are familiar with the truckers GPS systems providing automatic truck routing, taking into account truck dimensions and load requirements. Now there are GPS units made specifically for General Aviation Pilots (GA Pilots). The iFly 720 GPS by Adventure Pilot has a sunlight readable touch screen for pilots with extremely bright cockpits. This is a feature we could all use. Any one ever use a flash light in the bright sun to read the display on a GPS system while driving down the road? Most of the GPS systems out there are difficult to read in bright light. The iFly 720 takes you from the runway to the highway and has automatic wi fi updating, full airport facility directory, IFR low en route charts, approach plates with highlighted special use airspace. It overlays your position on a sectional chart, en route chart, approach plate, or taxi way diagram. The Contour GPS for skiers is a video camera less than 4" in length attaching to goggles recording to a micro SD memory card in 1920 X 1080 pixel resolution. With software and courtesy of Google over head map with speed and location bread crumb trail are added to the movie. GPS trackers are being used for the endangered tortoise, the Banff grizzly bear, and I read recently where California's Lone Wolf has moved into Oregon. Europe's Galileo Navigation System is being used to pin point distress calls for Rapid Search and Rescue. This will be of use in sea rescues and I imagine it will help in fighting piracy on the high seas. We have just scratched the surface here, highlighting a few unusual and I hope interesting things rolling our way from GPS technology. Men Nike Free Run 4.0 V2 Iguana Reflect Silver Cargo Khaki Quilted,I attended the first wedding for the spring season last weekend, something I had mixed feelings about for the last few months. I mean, I was completely ecstatic my cousin was marrying one of my best friends from college, it was just that. Here's the thing. I suffer from severe allergies. While most people are glad to be out of the cold wintery months, I dread it. Unfortunately for me, the wedding was not only at the beginning of spring, it was outdoors. If you're as unfortunate as myself, you'll attend the grand affair slightly high from all the anti histamines you took from stopping your nose from exploding. Besides that, my cousin had certainly done well in preparing for his gala event. I'm sure him having an amazing cousin in the wedding industry probably helped a lot. Are you planning a spring wedding? Here are a few survival tips. 1. Be prepared for weather emergencies. Unless you live in California, where rain is a rarity, having a tent/umbrellas on the ready is a must! On the other hand, also be prepared for a burst of warmer weather. Printing your wedding programs into a fan is perfect for this. 2. If it rains, chances of mud are very high. Add some fun and color with rain boots or protect your shoes by slipping your feet into plastic bags and securing them with rubber bands. Along with the tent, have some carpeting ready, so your guests aren't stomping through mud. 3. For late afternoon weddings outdoors, or if you're having an outdoor reception, have a supply of insect repellent ready for your guests, or strategically place insect repelling incense around the area. You can buy insect repelling candles, which can double up as your lighting. Tres romantic. 4. Try featuring a lemonade stand! Of course, for adults, you can serve 'spiked' lemonade. 5. Having naturally wavy hair, the bride's worst fear was her hair turning into a frizzy mess. Instead of getting it straightened or put in an up do, she chose to embrace her waves and applied an abundance of anti frizz serum and hairspray. The result was natural, wavy hair that flowed down her shoulders. Beautiful! My cousin's wedding was perfect. The setting was gorgeous, the food was amazing, and the whole time, I only sneezed once. Now that's what I call a successful wedding.

For more than fifteen years, her morning pages have been my daily writing help, the friend that coaxed me out of fear and inertia about putting words on paper and like the Nike slogan, urged me to "Just Do It!" Why is it so difficult to write? Writing is an activity removed from direct experience. Freud in "Civilization and Its Discontent" sees writing as technology; both he claims act as "prosthetics" to the body, functioning as an appendage or addition. Even the word "prosthetics" is ambivalent, carrying both the negative connotation of loss or compensation and the positive sense of extension. After all, writing is a later development of the human brain and signals not only the beginning of recorded history but also the evolution of the highly specialized and compartmentalized intelligence in the prefrontal cortex. In "The Sound of Paper", Julia Cameron reiterates what she has so poignantly elaborated in her previous books the creative self is buried so deep in our psyche, we have to develop ways to let it out. And morning pages, like solitary walks or runs, done consistently on a daily basis, form the "pivotal tool of a successful creative life (2)." The difficulty we experience in writing comes from the specialized voice in our head: "We write grudgingly and under half steam, resentfully and uphill. 'Who cares 'and 'This is stupid' are our companion thoughts (25)." It is usual, when the inner voice is struggling to find a place in the outer world, that the censor places it under a scalpel. Without the writing help of morning pages, most voices remain unheard. The easiest form of writing is the trade school type that disseminates information. The writing that engages our authentic being, our fears and passions is the most difficult to execute. It demands a different kind of writing help rigorous and open self acceptance, a visceral catharsis of our "self" on paper and unless we have built a conduit of safe passage for this inner voice, the water can be treacherous indeed. The morning pages, like the daily walk or run, is a means to engage this voice. Writing first thing in the morning allows you to evade the censor. "Spilling out of bed onto the page" (as Julia Cameron puts it) helps the writing self side track the critic. The repetitive nature of the morning pages assures your psyche safe passage on your journey. Securely ensconced in a routine, it will spill its guts out and that's what you want. Because these morning pages are not meant for public scrutiny, they are your means of internal housekeeping, letting the little woman (or man) have her say about things in the house. And the more she is allowed her say, the stronger your trust in your gut instinct and the more resilient you are to the opinion of others. It's like building a set of muscles with running. On most days, I do not feel like running. But what I have found is that the simple act of lacing my running shoes, getting out into the pavement or treadmill, beginning the motion of running will trigger a visceral engagement that changes the entire experience. More often than not, my best runs have been on days when I least wanted to run. Had I listened to my head, I would have missed a fabulous engagement with my legs. The head seems always at odds with the body and writing help that works with the body somehow straightens out the head. Both morning pages and running take time, but as with everything else, an investment of time and effort is in order for the miraculous to take place. We expect miracles to fall from the skies, part of our belief that we should be getting something for nothing. This sense of entitlement is the one of the most debilitating myths of the self help industry. Ask and it will be given yes ut we must also do our share of moving in the right direction.
