It was the first time we have run this distance together. At mile 8 we parted ways and she left me in her dust to PR her best half marathon time by 21 minutes!" With regards to the "family" aspect of the TNT experience on this challenging course, Mallet reports, "I was about halfway through the final climb back into town and was fading fast when I spotted one of my Poughkeepsie teammates on a corner just ahead; Bill Hiemcke was cheering me on, and as I made my way up the hill he asked if he could run me in; he had completed the race nearly an hour earlier and was wearing his medal. It was just the spark I needed; he ran with me through the last steep climb into the Olympic Stadium."Team In Training is not just for runners and walkers. TNT also supports triathlons, swimming, cycling and hiking events. In its 25 year history, a half million participants have raised more than $1.3 billion. Through the wonderful coaching I've received, I've learned a lot about the sport of running. As part of the TNT, I've also learned so much about those darn blood cancers I'm fighting against. I will always run in honor of Zach in addition to now running in memory of others who have battled this disease.
