It's a common thing among swimmers. Once a year, they do an "Endurance Challenge". This is called 100 100s on the 100 (hundred hundreds on the hundred). In layman's terms, this is 100 times 100 yards every 100 seconds. Or 100 x 100 x 100. Or 100 X 100 on the 1:40 (one hundred seconds). It's something most swimmers pick up in college years, but there are some high school teams that do this, too. Typically this event takes place on a New Year's Eve or a New Year's Day. Well, the TRI SMART MASTERS did this on March 25th, 2012. There are some other options for those swimmers not able to complete the 100 yards in that timeframe. You are allowed to swim 75 yards or 50 yards, but EVERYONE in the entire pool leaves on the same interval. This gives the workout a more social feeling and no matter what, it's a great workout for all. The Tri Smart Masters team has "mastered" this event. It has a clock counting down the interval and reps, food to keep the swimmers properly fueled, water and sports drink to keep them hydrated, give aways, music to keep the atmosphere light and fun and great organization. His right foot is worse than the left. He started pulling up on things and crawling about a month 1/2 ago, shortly before turning 1. I think he's still far from walking though. We have him wearing the shoes just at bedtime now, since he is so active on his feet during the day. But we made a BIG mistake, and around December, when his shoes got too small and we needed to order a size up, we let him have a "Shoe Vacation", and ever since then, he HATES the shoes. He has a really hard time falling asleep in them, he wakes up every few hours crying, and we resort to taking them off a lot to get sleep. He shares a room with his brothers so that makes it tougher too. He has a couple of red marks on the top of his right foot that I have been putting a bandage on to cushion the area, and that seems to help some, but he still hates the shoes with a passion. Anyone else have such a hard time? Thanks :) The best thing to do is have them on as much as possible so he can get used to them. The more they are off, the harder it will be for him to get used to them. It will probably take a week for him to get used to them again, but to me that's better than months of slowly getting used to them, and he needs his sleep! Plus I always worry about relapse. son is two and he always wears the shoes while he is sleeping, naps and nighttime. He actually asks for them. I was told by my son's doctors at one year old they should always be wearing the shoes while sleeping. We use gauze on the top of the ankle when it gets red (on top of the sock), another person here uses lambskin. Luck!
