A trip to the Grand Canyon. You've got two incredible destinations from which to choose: The West Rim and the South Rim. To help you pick, I've put together this brief rim by rim overview: The one way drive time by bus from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon West is 2.5 hours and 5.5 hours to the South Rim. Budget an entire day for either trip. The one way driving distance from Las Vegas to the West Rim is 128 miles and 279 miles to the South Rim. Both are relatively long trips. Fortunately, today's motor coach has all the amenities, including plush seats and a clean bathroom. There are also a number of stops where you can stretch your legs (including Hoover Dam). Here's where the two Rims begin to separate. The West Rim has more man made attractions; the South, more natural ones. The infrastructure (dining, lodging, amenities) is more developed at South Rim. Here are specifics: Plenty of casual dining here. The Bright Angel Lodge restaurant serves up home style cooking that's priced right. Maswick Lodge offers cafeteria style. There's a small snack bar behind the Lodge Restaurant. High end dining (and cocktails) can be had at El Tovar. Near Mather Campground is a supermarket with deli, fried foods, and pizza. Something for everyone. Hopi House specializes in Native American crafts (can be pricey). The gift shop at Bright Angel Lodge, Verkamp's, and Lookout Studio are great for souvenirs. Fine art is available on the "bottom" floor of Kolb Studio. The Glass Bridge has become Las Vegas' hottest "off Strip" attraction. Since opening to the public in 2007, more than one million people have experienced the Bridge. It's a fantastic structure: Made of special glass, it extends 70 feet over the Canyon, wherein you are suspended 4,000 feet above the Colorado River. Includes an authentic western town with live gunfights. Horseback riding and river rafting starts here. Helicopter flights take visitors to bottom of the Canyon. Accommodations are available for travelers who want to spend the night. Eagle Point is the main lookout for the West Rim. Spectacular views are to be had. Be warned There's no guardrail. The area includes an Indian village and outdoor amphitheater for talks on local culture, flora, and fauna. The West Rim is still evolving. Currently, there' the gift shop run by the Hualapai Indian Tribe. Inside, you can purchase snacks and souvenirs. Most bus tours will include lunch, which will most likely be a barbeque prepared for you by the Hualapai. The South Rim, elevation 7,000 feet, is 1,500 feet higher than the West Rim, so expect cooler temperatures. Other than that, both areas are subject to extreme weather. Here's a snapshot of annual temperatures at the rims: April June Average high temperature: 69 degrees. Average low: 39 degrees. July Sept.: Average high temperature: 82 degrees. Average low: 52 degrees. Oct. Dec.: Average high temperature: 52 degrees. Average low: 27 degrees. Warm layers in the winter and wind resistant, cool clothing in the summer. Expect winter snow at the South Rim and wear pants, shoes and a jacket (it's not uncommon to see people in shorts!). During summer months, make sure to carry plenty of water and sun tan lotion with you. Grand Canyon West rim tours start at $94. South Rim at $79. Tour prices include Park entrance fees. RSVP on the Internet to get the best deal. Tickets to the Skywalk cost extra ($29).95 for adults, $22.95 for children ages 3 11, and $26.95 for seniors and military personnel. The Rims of the Grand Canyon are wondrous places. It would be great if there was a Las Vegas Grand Canyon tour that did both but there isn't (if there were, it would be a two day trip). However, the Rims are different enough in terms of tour time, price, and attractions that you can find the trip that's right for you.

Barefoot running is an evolutionarily sound, biomechanically sound, and statistically plausible way of improving running and reducing injury. Too much too soon will result in injury, possibly stress fractures or worse. Pretend you are learning how to run for the first time. Listen to your body, if you have pain while running, stop immediately. Going barefoot may change your shoe size (usually smaller wider), so some recommend unshod before buying minimalist shoes. Venom Green 10s Just about every child goes through a stage where they become picky eaters. For some, this lasts til adulthood and can become a major bone of contention between parent and child. It is important not to try and force a child to eat a particular food that they claim to dislike as this is just giving them another reason to dislike it. There are various reasons why a child rejects a certain type of food. They may be wary of the unknown and regularly offering the child this type of food could eventually entice them to try it out. They may simply dislike the look, taste, texture and smell of a certain food and refuse to try it. It's not necessary for anyone to like every single kind of fruit or vegetable so if the child will not eat one thing, then try them with something else. Many fruits and vegetables have the same nutritional values so it is easy enough to find a replacement food. If the sight of vegetables turns your child off their meal, then find ways of disguising the vegetables. Blending vegetables into a puree and mixing with a bolognese sauce for example is one of the easiest ways to get a child to eat vegetables because the sauce covers the flavour and look of the vegetables. Try cooking vegetables in a different way. Many children do not like vegetables that are soggy or "slimy", so maybe you could cook vegetables so that they are crunchy instead. If a child will not eat the fruit you buy, then try more exotic forms of fruit, dried fruit or fruit juice. Remember that children's taste buds are a lot stronger than an adults so when they say something does not taste nice, it's probably true. Don't put pressure on them to eat food and praise them when they try something new. Eating as a family from a young age can also make a difference as they can learn from example. Make mealtimes a calm time for everyone involved and don't worry, what they won't eat today, they may eat next month.
