In the March 17 Q poll, he trounced her by a 2 1 margin; in May, immediately after the controversy over his Vietnam war misstatements, Blumenthal still led by 27 percentage points. By August, McMahon was within 10 and now she has cut his lead to 6. The poll's margin of error is plus or minus 3.3 percentage points. Senator in the state's history yet she faces a gender gap. By a margin of more than 2 1, women favor Blumenthal. In a race where both candidates are touting their respective records, the poll revealed an interesting paradox: 72 percent of those surveyed said Blumenthal had the right experience to be a senator; 56 percent said McMahon does not have the right experience. Democrats who have made criticism of her record as CEO of WWE the centerpiece of their campaign but nearly half of those surveyed said it doesn't make a difference. The survey of 875 likely Connecticut voters was conducted from Sept. 8 12. Mr. Blumenthal is a career politician. There's no getting around this. I have to laugh at the TV ads. The scene is on the waterfront, Mr. Blumenthal talke about his records and what he'll do in Washington. These are his words, they are not those of a character actor. Ending with (paraphrasing) "I'm Richard Blumenthal, and I've approved this message" Are we so stupid to think that he was saying things he didn't approve of? That catch phrase which has seemingly arisen out of no where indicates that he is out of touch and following the likes of other career politicians. I think safe to say, if a person is in front of a TV camera, and they're speaking without someone holding a gun to their head, they've approved the message they're saying. Why didn't the reporter mention that the poll is based on a false premise? Here's the question Quinnipiac asked: "If the election for United States Senator were being held today, and the candidates were Richard Blumenthal the Democrat and Linda McMahon the Republican, for whom would In fact, there are other candidates on the ballot for senate, and the election is not just a two party contest. Why not report that? And why wouldn't the poll ask about others? Who made that decision and why? If the findings suggest that voters are casting their votes in opposition, wouldn't it be particularly appropriate to ask about other candidates? This is a case of antijournalistic reporting about some altogether unscientific polling data. The righteous see the good in people; the self righteous see the bad. The righteous make you feel bigger; the self righteous make you feel small. The righteous praise; the self righteous criticise. The righteous are generous; the self righteous, grudging and judgmental. Once you know the difference, keep far from the self righteous, who come in all forms, right and left, religious and secular. Win the respect of people you respect, and ignore the rest." Having Linda McMahon's friends tout her sense of humor, does not measure up in any way to Richard Blumenthal's record of standing up for the people of Connecticut and all he has achieved. We are all in need of serious help if the naysayers have their way. Don't trust this poll. If you know anything about polling, you know that at least more than 1000 people should be polled, and that if the poll's margin of error should be less than 3.3 percentage points. I can't even take this seriously. And another thing I can't take seriously: people who vote AGAINST a candidate instead of voting FOR one. What does that say about you? That you aren't intelligent enough to do your research on a candidate and vote for the one who you think would do the job best. I RESPECT RICHARD BLUMENTHAL AND THE JOB HE HAS DONE AS ATTORNEY GENERAL, BUT HE WILL NOT MAKE A SENSIBLE CHOICE AS A SENATOR BECAUSE HE WAS HAND PICKED BY THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY TO REPLACE THE "DOOMED" SENATOR DODD'S SENATE SEAT. THE DEMOCRATS BELIEVE BLUMENTHAL TO BE A SURE WINNER, BUT A VOTE FOR HIM WILL BE A VOTE FOR THE "GOOD OLE BOYS" TO KEEP BUSINESS AS USUAL, FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF CONTINUEING SUPPORT OF OBAMA'S FAILURE AND LACK OF STIMULUS..

Lloyd Robertson hasn seen it all, but he pretty close. The veteran news anchor stopped by the Winnipeg Free Press News Caf this afternoon to talk about his more than half century of bringing the news to Canadians. He covered such world changing events as the first moon landing, John F. Kennedy assassination, Trudeaumania, Terry Fox attempt to run across Canada and 9/11. He still recalls the morning of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 as he received a phone call from his newsroom after a late night at the office. "I being wakened up in the middle of a nightmare," he said. "Most people had seen this event from the outside in, so I decided to do it from the inside out (in the book)." This is where money comes in, and the more customers the better. However, aside from sales, customer service is also an important aspect of retail. You want to give your customers the best experience possible. Make their stay pleasant, and they will keep on coming back. This includes customer service during the buying process, and also after sales support. You want your customer to be as happy as possible. This will include having greeters, efficient checkout personnel, and making it easy for your customers to find the things they need. You should also know your products very well. Customers will take your advice if you are knowledgeable. Don't just make recommendations to make a sale. Be sure that the suggestions you make are helpful, and appropriate to the customer. For example, if a dress doesn't suit her body type, try to present better alternatives. If you run a clothing retail store, you will need to have adequate fitting rooms. During sales and peak hours, though, you might experience overcrowding, so make sure people line up. It might be a good idea to provide number cards so your customers can just continue browsing or get seated while they wait for their turn. Ask the customer if they need anything else, and ask if they had a great time with shopping. Listen to their feedback. If they have a concern, this should be brought to management. Try to make the checkout experience as fast as possible. Make it a point to have adequate change even for large bills. Don't inconvenience the customer by having her wait unnecessarily. Before the customer leaves, be sure to greet her. Tell her to have a great day, and to please come back soon. Retail stores can also give loyalty cards or memberships to customers. You can give them a discount on their next visit. Your loyalty card should also have your contact information, so the customer can call you in case she has questions or concerns about the product. 656503 501 Air Jordan Future Dark Concord Dark Concord White,Portuguese heritage and modern charms in MacauBy Kenneth Kiesnoski Mainland China, an exotic, hardly visited destination back in Cold War days, is now a booming mainstay of the global tourism circuit, visited by thousands of Americans annually. How to add a little exclusivity to China bound clients' itineraries and earn them some bragging rights for having visited a less frequented corner of the vast country? Booking them a few days in Macau should do the trick. travelers, is a former Portuguese territory that, like its bigger, once British neighbor, reverted to Chinese rule in 1999. Unlike Hong Kong, however, tiny Macau just 11.4 square miles in size boasts nearly 500 years of history, with the architectural legacy to prove it; a multicultural local cuisine blending Asian, European and African influences, as well as a host of quality Portuguese, Chinese and international restaurants; and, alone among cities in China, a world class array of flashy casino resorts that give competitors in Las Vegas a run for their money. In short, Macau has everything a vacationer could ask for in a stand alone destination. One could easily spend a week exploring its charms, both time honored and new. business travelers, stay an average 3.5 nights in Macau, according to the Macau Government Tourist Office). So, what to recommend to clients bound for Macau? I just returned from four days in the city, on a sampler itinerary arranged by the MGTO to highlight different aspects of the destination's legion leisure attractions. My air carrier, Cathay Pacific, checked my baggage through to Macau's ferry terminal, from which I set out for my hotel, the Mandarin Oriental Macau, five minutes away by cab on the city's waterfront. After resting up a bit, I headed over to the nearby, 1,109 foot Macau Tower, which features the world's second highest bungie jump (which could be seen from my hotel room). After a quick ride up the tower for expansive views of the territory's islands of Taipa and Coloane now joined by the Cotai Strip, a landfill development and Macau peninsula proper, I headed down to its base for an al fresco Portuguese barbecue held in honor of the 23rd Macau International Fireworks Display Contest. Founded in 1989, the annual competition celebrates Macau's historically important but now defunct fireworks industry. This year, 10 teams from around the world competed over five nights. Portugal in Asia The next day, I set out for a survey of Macau's fused Portuguese and Chinese heritages. I started with a visit to the Luis de Camoes Garden, named for a 16th century poet (considered Portugal's national bard) who reputedly wrote his most famous work while sitting there. A stone grotto and bust of Camoes marks the spot. The hilly garden is a cool, verdant respite from busy, urban Macau peninsula, and locals make ample use of it. I saw not only people out for a stroll or parkside snack but also practitioners of tai chi and Chinese opera. Next on the agenda was the precinct around the historical A Ma Temple, dedicated to the Taoist goddess of the seas, and Macau namesake. A stroll up and down the temple's myriad grottoes and steps was immediately followed with a visit to the nearby Maritime Museum. The intimate, multilevel museum chronicles the watery exploits of both Portuguese navigators ,such as Vasco de Gama, and less well known Chinese explorers, such as the 15th century admiral Zheng He. Hungry after all the sightseeing, I headed with MGTO representatives to the historical and elegant Military Club, which lies in the shadow of the massive and gaudy Grand Lapa casino hotel, for a traditional Portuguese lunch known as cozida a Portuguesa, heavy on sausages and other meats. I took the rest of the evening off, apart from a business dinner with Mandarin Oriental Macau management. Casinos rule in Cotai My third morning in Macau, I prepared to transfer from my waterfront, nongaming digs on the peninsula to the Grand Hyatt Macau, part of the City of Dreams casino resort complex, which also contains a Hard Rock Hotel and a Crown Towers Hotel. I started at the hilltop ruins of St. Paul's, perhaps Macau's most iconic sight. All that's left of a centuries old, mostly wooden Jesuit church is its intricate stone facade combining Christian and Chinese motifs. A series of beautifully landscaped gardens winds down from St. Paul, gradually leading to streets cobbled in traditional Portuguese style black and white, patterned mosaic tile. The tiled streets bring a feel of Porto, Portugal, to mind, as do the pastel colored historical buildings lining them. The remainder of the day was devoted to hotel visits, to get a feel for local accommodations, followed by dinner and a show. I got thorough looks at the Hard Rock Hotel, Crown Towers and, after check in, my own Grand Hyatt Macau (all of which opened in 2009) as well as two of the three new hotel components at the competing $1.9 billion Galaxy casino resort complex, which just debuted in March. In addition to the Galaxy Hotel and Hotel Okura, which I toured, Galaxy also is home to a Banyan Tree resort. The Banyan Tree features Macau's only rooftop wave pool and white sand beach, as well as a mind boggling multimedia main lobby feature that boasts a huge, spinning diamond shaped ornament rising from fountain jets. Less garish but no less mind boggling or wet was a performance of "The House of Dancing Water," a Cirque du Soleil style, water feature heavy production back at the Grand Hyatt Macau. For my post theater dinner, I was shuttled to Manuel's Restaurant, a hole in the wall but exceedingly authentic Portuguese restaurant. Verdict: well worth any effort and expanse, and a nice escape from noisy casinos. Later in the morning, I was off to see Macau's latest attraction, a climate controlled viewing pavilion constructed for the two pandas that were donated to the city by mainland China. A small zoo and gift shop filled with panda themed souvenirs rounds out the offerings. Much later in the day, I was off to a performance of an actual Cirque du Soleil show, "Zaia" at the Venetian Resort. If you've been to Las Vegas or one of Cirque's touring shows, you know what to expect: swelling music, soaring entertainment, some thrills and chills and lots of oohs and ahhs.

'The United States supports universal suffrage in Hong Kong in accordance with the Basic Law and the aspirations of the Hong Kong people,' State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters on Tuesday in comments likely to infuriate China. 'We believe that an open society with the highest possible degree of autonomy and governed by rule of law is essential for Hong Kong's stability and prosperity.' The Basic Law is Hong Kong's mini constitution. Psaki added the legitimacy of the future Hong Kong chief executive the city's leader would 'be greatly enhanced' if the next one was selected by 'universal suffrage' as is 'the ultimate aim of the Basic Law.' The standing committee of China's National People's Congress, or parliament, said Sunday that the citizens of the semi autonomous city would be allowed to elect their next leader in 2017 but candidates must be chosen by a pro Beijing committee and must win the backing of more than half of the committee members to stand. Only two or three will be allowed to stand for election. Democracy activists say the rules mean China will be able to ensure that only pro Beijing candidates can contest the vote. Britain handed Hong Kong back to China in 1997 under an agreement which allows civil liberties not seen on the mainland, including free speech and the right to protest. 656503 501 Air Jordan Future Dark Concord Dark Concord White YOUNG Hayley Stephens will follow the footsteps of big brothers Oliver and Sam tomorrow in the Wunta Kids Triathlon.
