More than 50 Kent residents received business awards at a special ceremony at Canterbury Christ Church University's Hall Place Enterprise Centre on Wednesday 25th June. Both programmes were run by the University Centre for Enterprise and Business Development (CEBD) and were part of a special initiative to up skill local people from a range of backgrounds including: business owners, entrepreneurs, those on a career break or those working in a low paid, low skills job. The programmes were designed to give members of the public with few or no qualifications the opportunity to gain an in depth knowledge of European Business, Management and Organisational Behaviour, Finance and Statistics, a foreign language and IT skills. On completion of the courses, which were part funded by the European Social Fund, the students have the opportunity to apply for a second or third year place on a degree programme. Vice Chancellor of Canterbury Christ Church University, Professor Michael Wright, presented the awards to the graduates and welcomed their families and friends. Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Wright, said: awards ceremony celebrates the high standard achieved by our students. The certificates and diplomas are designed to broaden people horizons, hone local talent, enhance opportunity and widen access into higher education. I would like to extend my very best wishes to our successful graduates on their outstanding achievements, they richly deserve our congratulations. University European Social Fund Project Manager, Jenny Overy, said: Certificate and Diploma in European Business programmes are examples of lifelong learning and provide non traditional students with the opportunity to study with a diverse group of motivated individuals.
