The blog will fill an information void that LandChoices' President Kirt Manecke sees with current sources about land preservation. "So many land conservancies are focused on their particular locale, which is valuable and makes sense, but there is a great deal to be learned from case studies across the nation," Manecke says. Topics for case studies will range both geographically and by type of project. Blog readers will find postings about innovative approaches to land preservation by families, farmers, Boy Scout camps, housing developers using conservation development strategies known as "conservation subdivisions", and more. LandChoices will also leverage the blog to steer readers to more in-depth resources, like white papers on land conservation techniques such as conservation easements, FAQ's about land preservation, farmland preservation, conservation development and land trusts, and backgrounders that help the average landowner navigate the terms and concepts used in the land conservation realm.
