Why does LandChoices need a new website?
How will a new website help me?

Our new website will help planners preserve land in your community. The most important reason we are building a new website is to make it easier for you, the user, to locate information with an improved site navigation system.

With more and more people relying on the Web for information and research, it's time for LandChoices to create the best website in the industry about protecting land with conservation subdivisions and more.

Why Me?
Do you want to make it easy for planners and landowners to preserve land in your community? A new website will accomplish this. You can help by making a donation.

Why Now?
The home building industry is stalled. Planners, including those in your community, have time to learn about conservation subdivisions and update ordinances. Landowners are open to new ideas for their land. There's never been a better time!

What For?
A new, improved website for LandChoices featuring the following improvements:

Wider Format
The new website will use the full width of Web real estate to minimize scrolling, and more effectively use the space, making it easier for planners, landowners and advocates to locate information.

Improved Search Box
Search box will be relocated to top of the page to make it easy for visitors to locate information.

Improved Navigation
Site navigation menu will be updated to vastly improve usability. The important "Press Kit" and "Blog" links will now be part of the main navigation menu.

Clearer Message
Our message will be clearer and more focused, and more emotional through storytelling.

Share Features
Social media and share buttons on every page will make it easy for you to spread the message.

CSS
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) allow us to update the website much more cost-effectively.

Google Analytics
Adding Google Analytics to the new website allows us to track and measure.

Search Engine Optimization
The new website will be optimized for search, helping planners and landowners locate us.

Presentation Page
This page will allow advocates and others to download materials to share with planners and landowners and to make presentations to local planning commissions.

E-News
The new website will feature and highlight an e-news sign up box to keep you updated on all of our news.

And Much More!

Why Do We Need a New Website? Who says?
Below are insights from one Web designer about why LandChoices needs a new website.

"Here are my insights as to why you need a new website!

LandChoices current site isn't working for it's cause. A website needs to tell a quick story about the company or non-profit it represents. It should easily direct people where you want them to go (donate, sign-up) and it should help them find out more about the information you are providing.

LandChoices current site doesn't clearly say who you are or what you do. The image on your current homepage that compares a traditional development with a sustainable neighborhood is really a great image. But it isn't being used to it's highest potential. I recommend increasing the impact of this image, via AJAX or Flash to help tell visitors who you are.

LandChoices current site is organized poorly due primarily to the limitations of how it was put together. This made it hard to manage and know where to place new information. The site became cluttered and hard to manage. The typical site only has seconds to engage a visitor, and if there isn't an easy way to visually navigate the content, especially of the homepage, you will have lost that visitor, who could have been a potential new member.

By fully redesigning LandChoices I believe you will fulfill your goal of increasing membership and interest in your organization.

Hope this helps!

Thanks,

Michele"
